ecoTruk journeys to the Village of Hope and the Village of Opportunity outside of Ougadougou, Burkina Faso for an extended stay. This visit sparked the promise of an exciting new, regional empowerment enterprise based upon bicycle transport.

ecoTruk visits the “Copperbelt” of Zambia. A number of meetings were held within rural villages outside of Ndola. The stage was set for the establishment of several pilot projects. A local trade school was also toured.

The new ecoTruk travels to Interbike 2007. A second critical forum “One Goal, Many Solutions: Empowering The World Through Bicycles” was hosted by industry leaders. Bicycle advocacy for the developing world continues to increase!

The new ecoTruk prototype (v.03) spent the first three weeks of September outside of Lusaka, Zambia. Many new relationships were made and ecoTruk performed way beyond all expectations. This successful test sets the stage for upcoming pilot projects in East Africa.

A newly modified prototype of the ecoTruk (v.02) travels to the Dominican Republic with Healing Waters International for testing. Modifications include a strengthening cross tube and a new detachable rear frame member, making it much easier to transport on passenger airlines. Locals are shown how to haul 240 pounds of purified water.

The ecoTruk and its sister bicycle, the Züm, turned a lot of heads at the Outdoor Demo of the 2006 Interbike Trade Show. Many were excited about ecoTruk’s potential. Additional meetings during the show reinforced the opportunities for ecoTruk.
